Module 1: Coping with Criticism
It’s not easy to cope with criticism, especially when it seems that’s all you hear. This BeCool module will help you teach your students the negative consequences of reacting like a victim or responding like a hothead when being criticized. Your students will see the benefits of acting assertively cool. In this module, your students will see Conner modeling how to react to fair criticism, and see Diane respond assertively to unclear criticism. They will also see how being HOT or COLD makes things worse. 41 mins

Module 2: Coping with Teasing
For children in kindergarten through second grade, teasing can be an everyday occurrence. At the very least it can be a headache for teachers and counselors, but for children, the consequences can be far worse: aggressive behavior, social withdrawal, and a damaged self-concept. Your students will see how Taylor, Dominic, and Amy handle teasing from their friends in a COOL and assertive manner. They will also learn that teasing usually gets worse with a HOT or COLD response. Module 4: Coping with Anger Others & Self
This two-module part of the BeCool series helps kids deal with many types of anger through the use of a simple 4-Step Plan. Approached from two different points of view, Anger/Self and Anger/Others, it gives kids the opportunity to watch other children work these conflicts out. They will see Taylor coping with Jay’s anger after accidentally bumping into him. In another vignette, they’ll see Morganne’s reaction to Dominic, who thinks she cheated while playing a game. They will watch Tommy handle his anger and frustration with Chaye and learn how Saeed used the 4-Step Plan to cope with a broken promise. 81 mins
